FM 15 B HELESHAW APPARATUS

DESCRIPTION

Hele-Shaw Method provides the students with a better understanding of fluid flow over objects and help the students understand what turbulent and streamline flows are and how they affect the overall fluid flow over the object. Within the study of aerodynamics, a very important section deals with fluid flow. In order to design an efficient aerodynamic object, a shape that will maximize an appropriate type of flow for each application must be designed. In the experiment flow over different shapes will be observed. Hele-Shaw method is being utilized in the present apparatus. The apparatus uses water and dye to show the streamlines over an object. Making water move slowly between two transparent plates’ aids in observing fluid flow pattern.

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS

  • • Visually effective demonstration of a wide variety of flow patterns around different shapes
  • • Ideal for individual as well as group work and classroom demonstrations
  • • Models easily cut from sheet (included) – almost any shape possible
  • • Ideal introduction to incompressible potential flow (aerodynamics)
  • • Laminar flow study.
