HT 31 A
TUBULAR HEAT EXCHANGER
Description
The apparatus consists of a concentric tube heat exchanger. Hot water flows through inner tube in one direction only and cold water flows over the inner tube in outer tube. Direction of cold fluid flow can be changed from parallel or counter to hot water so that unit can be operated as parallel or counter flow heat exchanger.
During experiments, temperature curves are plotted and displayed graphically. Additionally, the measured values can be recorded and processed using data acquisition software. The mean heat transfer coefficient is then calculated as a characteristic variable. The well-structured instructional material sets out the fundamentals and provides a step-by-step guide through the experiments.
EXPERIMENTS
- Plotting temperature curves
In parallel flow operation
In counter flow operation
- Calculation of mean heat transfer coefficient
- Comparison with other heat exchanger types
FEATURES
- Simple to operate & maintain
- Parallel flow and counter flow operation possible
